Nigeria is home to about 371 ethnic groups, yet I’m often mistaken for being from one of the three major ethnic groups. Rather than seeing this as a limitation, I chose to embrace the beauty of Nigeria’s incredible cultural diversity.
Through this campaign, I’ve styled traditional Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa attires as an exploration of diverse traditions, artistic expressions, and historical significance. This journey has deepened my appreciation for the unique aesthetics and cultural narratives that each group brings to the table.
Born and raised in Ojo, Lagos State, I grew up surrounded by people from multiple ethnic backgrounds and tribes. While I’m not originally from any of the major tribes, I am proudly Nigerian and African.
One unifying factor across all these diverse cultures is their love for art. This is evident in the beautiful traditional attires, textiles, masquerade costumes, music, and more. Each culture is unique, yet we are all the same, bound by our shared humanity.
Styling these pieces from different cultures took me on a journey I believe everyone should experience. Learning the history behind the fabrics and designs gave me a deeper appreciation for the stories they hold, stories that are often untold but deserve to be celebrated.
My dream is to Unify people through Art, Creativity & Style as a fuel to foster economic and social advancement.
This campaign championed alongside ROGUE and BAY ICE, Two brands committed to unifying the nation and fostering economic growth regardless of tribe or religion, is a step towards a more productive and inclusive society.
